This policy explains what data distill.md collects, why, and how. No legalese. If you have questions, email privacy@distill.md.
Effective date: March 2026
What we collect
Just one thing: your email address, if you subscribe to the newsletter.
We don't collect your name, location, device details, or anything else when you sign up. You give us an email. That's it.
How we use it
Your email address is used for one purpose: sending the weekly distill.md newsletter. One new explainer, once a week.
We don't sell your email. We don't share it with third parties for marketing. We don't use it to target you with ads.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to understand how people find and use the site. Plausible is privacy-friendly: it's cookieless, doesn't track individuals, and doesn't collect personal data. No cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting, no data sold to advertisers.
If you're curious, you can read how Plausible works. The short version: we see aggregate numbers like page views and referral sources, not anything tied to you specifically.
How to unsubscribe
Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you're out. No confirmation hoops, no "are you sure?" screens.
If you have trouble unsubscribing, email privacy@distill.md and we'll handle it manually within 48 hours.
Your data rights
You can ask us to:
- Confirm what data we hold about you
- Delete your data entirely
- Correct anything that's wrong
Email privacy@distill.md with any of these requests. We'll respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how we handle data in a meaningful way, we'll update this page and note the new effective date at the top.
